While pursuing his BSc degree, Dewet van Rooyen discovered a passion for videography and began experimenting with it in his spare time. As his hobby grew, he eventually transitioned to a full-time career in film. In 2013, he wrote and directed his first short film, “Die Bach Motief”, and in 2014, he co-founded Wyrd Films.

Since then, Dewet has written, directed, and produced a variety of critically acclaimed short films, a SAFTA-nominated scripted thriller series for Netwerk24, and hundreds of episodes of lifestyle and reality TV for DStv.
